Animation Academy Antics

Tucked away in a corner of Hollywood Studios behind Disney Jr. Live on Stage lives The Magic of Animation and hidden inside that attraction is Animation Academy. Everyone gets a chance to try to draw the chosen Disney character under the instruction of a Disney animator.

Since MiaMouse, being MiaMouse, wasn’t listening to the instructor and made a big mistake on her Tigger drawing, I gave her mine. She soon lost interest when hers wasn’t perfect ;) and we watched the Chief make his instead.

Classes begin at 10:30am and run every 30 minutes. Since they can only take a limited number of people per class, we’ve found it fills up quickly – hey, free Disney souvenir! – so get there early, grab a seat, and wait for your class to be called.

Starting Summer 2012, Phineas, Ferb, and Agent P will be added to the cast of characters being drawn!

MTT Jenny’s Disney non-Bucket List

When MTT Kimberly asked me to write about my Disney Bucket List my first thought was … ummm, I don’t have one. I’m not sure why, but I don’t particularly care for the term “Bucket List”. However, I do several Disney things my heart dreams of. So, we’ll call this MTT Jenny’s Dreamy Disney Wish List … after all, a dream is a wish your heart makes …

1. Family vacation at Disney World. Now that my girls are adults with their own lives and careers, it is quite likely that most of our vacations will now just be my husband, my son and me. Three of my kids have always loved tree houses and they love animals. Sadly, we never built them a tree house, nor have we taken them to Africa to stay amongst wild animals (having their friends over seemed wild enough!). So, my Dreamy Disney Wish for a family vacation is a split stay … 1 week in a Tree House at Saratoga Springs and 1 week at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.

2. Disney’s Grand Floridian weekend with my husband! …to include a romantical stroll along the Seven Seas Lagoon during Wishes fireworks and dinner at Victoria and Albert’s!

3. The dreamiest of my Dreamy Disney Wish List for accommodations would be to stay in Cinderella’s Castle Suite or Disney’s Dream Suite in Disneyland. Well, actually, who am I kidding? I’d like to stay in both please :)

4. I love fun and happy, what could make for a funner happier start to the day than to be chosen as Family of The Day and help open the park!?! My good friend, Kelli, and her family were chosen as Family of The Day in Disneyland this last December. SO exciting!

5. Watch Disney-themed live shows on board Disney Cruise Line! I would like to see them all! …and a day or 2 at Castaway Cay. Thank you :)

6. Spirit of America tour with Adventures by Disney! Touring Philadelphia, Washington DC, Monticello & Gettysburg with knowledgeable Disney Adventure guides? YES please! And, maybe a 2 night New York Weekend Getaway Cruise onboard the Disney Magic before returning home! For a little R&R vacation recovery, of course!

7. Spend a carefree day soaking up sun and floating the lazy river with a pineapple-y umbrella drink in my hand at Disney’s beautiful Resort & Spa in Hawaii, Aulani!!! ….SO excited to say I can cross this one off in November!

8. Ride over Disney World Resort in the Mickey Mouse hot air balloon, EarForce One!

9. Mickey head balloon. Sadly, I have never had my very own Mickey head balloon :( ok…so maybe I’d like the whole bouquet … SO?

10. Ride through Disney World in Cinderella’s Crystal Coach. Not for a wedding, just because. What sparkle loving, tiara wearing Princess doesn’t want to ride in Cinderella’s Crystal Coach? This one sure does!

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party 2012

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party (or MVMCP for short) is held on select nights in November and December at Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort and you must purchase a separate party ticket to attend. During the party you can enjoy Christmas cookies & hot cocoa, watch live holiday stage shows featuring your favorite characters, see Santa, and even watch it snow on Main Street U.S.A.!

Characters are dressed in their holiday finest for photos and autographs, including the Princesses AND their Princes and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

The stage shows aren’t my favorite part of the event. Even with the Christmas music I don’t think they have the impact of the Halloween shows.

The parade is a lot of fun with Mickey and friends all dressed for winter, the march of tin soldiers, and the dancing gingerbread mean. Seeing Santa as the grand finale always gets the crowds cheering!

Wishes! is still my favorite fireworks show but the addition of holiday music and the icicle lights makes it even more magical!

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party will be held on the following nights in 2012:
November 9, 12, 15, 16, 25, 27, and 29, 2012 — December 2, 4, 6, 7, 9, 11, 13, 14, 16, 18, 20, and 21, 2012

Ticket prices for adults (ages 10 and up) range from $62.79-$69.18
Ticket prices for children (ages 3-9) range from $57.46-$63.85

Official party hours: 7:00 pm – midnight, with the Once Upon a Christmastime parade at 8:15 pm and 10:30 pm, and Holiday Wishes fireworks at 9:30 pm

A Little Bit of Disney in My Day: Souvenirs

Souvenirs, I LOVE souvenirs! Especially small souvenirs Not sure why, but I’ve always loved small souvenirs like these fun dohickey’s.

Maybe they were meant to be key chains or zipper pulls, I don’t know. I just know that I HAD to have them! So, I did what any obsessed Disney dohickey fan would do … I dumped them all out so I could see them, feel them, touch them.

How CUTE is Goofy? I love his hat!

The fact that Donald’s hat is about as big as his body made me giggle.

Princess…well, OF COURSE I had to have it!

Minnie might be my favorite of the bunch. I love polka dots!

Yes, I had to have them. No, they have no purpose. ….well, other than looking awfully cute in this little jar on a little shelf in my office :)

Meet MTT Evan

Hi, I’m Evan. I have three wonderful boys and an amazing wife. A few years ago, my wife’s side of the family decided to take a family vacation to Disney World. Being the planners we are, my wife and I volunteered to handle the itinerary and booking. We enjoy planning trips and thought it would be just another family vacation. Boy were we mistaken! The more we planned, the more excited we became. We got on every travel website and forum we could find and read a plethora of Disney travel books. We were completely enthralled at all Disney had to offer. And thus began our love affair.

I had gone to Disney World and Disneyland as a child, but my wife and two (at that time) children had never been soon as we waited for rope drop at Magic Kingdom, and watched the good morning show, we were hooked. As we walked through the park, it had a familiarity about it from my childhood. But nothing could have prepared me for the joy of going to Disney World as a parent. Seeing the delight in my children’s eyes when they hugged their first character and rode their first roller coaster are memories I’ll cherish forever.

Once we got home, we immediately began planning our return. We went again less than a year later, this time with my parents so they could experience the wonderful memories with our kids as well. People thought we were crazy for taking our youngest (at the time) twice before he was 2, but that trip was in 2009, and both children still talk about how much fun they had. Their memories are so vivid because Disney World does a great job at catering to even the youngest of children.

People often ask why we love Disney so much. I tell them it’s not just the rides, it’s not just the shows, it’s the whole package. The atmosphere is so happy. Everyone is friendly. It truly is the “happiest place on Earth.” Disney manages to offer so much at the parks, yet it remains peaceful. It’s a place to get away from everything and be a kid again alongside my kids. The reason I wanted to work with Mouse Tales Travel is so I can help as many families experience the joy that is a Disney Vacation, all the while doing something I love.
