Tip Thursday: Organizing Travel Documents

Travel Documents Disney

Being organized, especially when traveling, will ease a lot of stress. Keeping all your travel documents together in a safe and easy to find place should be a priority. When we travel, we usually have a few different documents that we MUST have in order to make it to our destination. I also need to be able to access these documents during our travels easily that way I am not frantically holding up a line at airport security or trying to find a confirmation number, in the unfortunate case my reservation is not in their system. I have a smooth plan in place, each in every time. I organize our travel documents in a pile by what I will need to access first. Typically this is our flight boarding passes. That will be on the top of my pile. Then hotel/resort reservation confirmation. If we purchased any special event tickets, those confirmations go next. Dining reservation confirmation print outs. (Yes I print them out, but you don’t need to be as detailed as I am). Park Planner, Itinerary and so on and so forth. If we are cruising, then I make sure I have our passports, signature confirmation sheets and any other vital documents with us as well.

Travel Documents Disney Folder

All of our documents fit perfectly in this clear sealed folder. This type of folder prevents any of my important documents from falling out. They are secured. The folder goes into front pocket of my carry on suitcase. This suitcase is with me during the entire traveling process, so I will always have quick access to them. This truly is a lifesaver for me. It gets packed the night before we leave and is put with our luggage so I will not forget to take it. Trust me I have had many nightmares of me standing in line at airport security, scrambling to find my “folder” and realizing that it is sitting on the kitchen table at home. I never want that nightmare to become a reality. You shouldn’t either.

  1. I LOVE this Julie. I use a small travel documents envelope from a prior trip, but I LOVE the clear idea, too. One other tip, or at least what we do is we keep our important travel stuff in there year round so we don’t lose it and then just add what we need for each trip. So our passports, any annual passes or discount cards we have, Disney Rewards card, SCUBA certification cards all “live” in there and we just swap in anything new we need for each trip. I LOVE the clear folder though and keeping it all in the order you’ll need it. I feel calmer and more organized just looking at it!

  2. Jennifer,
Thanks for sharing the additional tips.
