Today the Disney Dream left her enclosed building dock to settle into the new space alongside the Meyer Werft shipyard’s outfitting dock for final preparations for her maiden voyage on January 26, 2011. Thousands of people attended the float out to get a glimpse of the Disney Dream and enjoy the celebration including fireworks and Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck.

“Today marks a monumental milestone and begins the first of the finishing touches for the Disney Dream as we prepare to welcome guests aboard our newest ship,” said Karl Holz, president of Disney Cruise Line. “Our guests are counting down to the maiden voyage, and in just 88 days, they will get to experience all that the Disney Dream has to offer.”
Based in Celebration, FL, the Disney Cruise Line experience is focused on providing a setting where families can reconnect, adults can recharge and kids can immerse themselves in worlds of fantasy only Disney can create. Most recently, the company was recognized as the top cruise experience by the readers of Conde Nast Traveler magazine. Disney Cruise Line was voted the No. 1 cruise experience in the magazine’s 2010 Readers’ Choice Awards in the mega-ship category.
The Disney Fantasy, the Disney Dream‘s sister ship, is also under construction at the Meyer Werft shipyard. Her maiden voyage is scheduled for April 7, 2012.
